TARANAKI CLASS NARROW BOATS

Our new hand-crafted narrow boats feature a level of design and finish to match that of our bespoke build, but at an affordable price: plus the after sales support is the same as is offered to our bespoke owners. The boat comes complete with CE mark to RCD 2003/44/EC standard, full owner’s manual with diagrams and instructions, plus a twelve-month warranty. Boats are given a 4-year British Waterways safety certificate issued by an independent surveyor for peace of mind We have particular expertise in electronics and engineering. This specification matches the price for your boat in the accompanying price guide and will give you a beautiful, high performance boat.

Starting from the stern – bow.

Bedroom.

This features a fixed or cross double with drawers and an overhead cupboard with down lights at either end. At the forward end of the bed there is a large full-length wardrobe with shelves and hanging area. Also featured is a fixed chest of drawers between the bed and the wardrobe. TOP >>

Bathroom.

The bathroom can be walk-through or compartmentalized, then fitted with a vanity unit with hand basin. The shower is full-sized with a mixer unit. There is a heated towel rail and shelving to provide further storage space. The toilet is a Thetford cassette C200 CS with electric flush. Shower compartments can be either fully tiled or finished in vinyl.

Galley.

The boat features a split galley with solid hardwood units and a large choice of work surfaces. There is a full sized stainless steel hob and oven, fridge and deep full sized stainless steel sink with monobloc taps. Overhead cupboards and shelving provide further storage.

Saloon / Dinette.

The dinette option is only available on 60 ft boats as an extra. The saloon is designed for free standing furniture with space for a solid fuel or diesel stove. We fit a TV aerial and unit, with shelving, by the bow doors. The bow doors are hardwood, half glazed and fully lockable. TOP >>

Tanks.

Water tank: approx 200 galls
Diesel tank approx 60 galls. Pressure tested.

Windows and port holes.

These are available in either brass or chrome effect and are fully clamped in with no external fittings. All windows and portholes are fully hardwood lined. TOP >>

Steelwork

All steelwork certified to BS 4360/43A EN 10025/430A Revised to BSEN 10025:1993:5275 and the certificate issued with the boat.

10mm bottom plate welded both sides with 75mm x 50 mm cross beams every 600mm.
6mm side plating with 75mm x 50mmm knees at 1200 mm intervals and two full length stringers.

4mm cabin sides with 25mm x 25mm square tubing strengthening where needed.

Two full length rubbing guards and two intermediate strakes at bow, another at the stern in 50mm x 12mm D section mild steel.

Bollards, T-stud and anchor points plus three recessed fender attachments on each side of the boat.

Diesel tank at the stern with take off and return from tank top and the tank will be pressure tested and labeled. Engine beds in 10mm plating. The bow to have extended rubbing guards on each side. Weed hatch with quick release lid and anti-cavitation plate. Gas locker at bow with bottom drain to BS standard.
Hulls can be trad, semi-trad or cruiser stern.

Finishing
Finishing will be by hand, with attention to remove all blemishes and weld splatter. After careful inspection three coats of chromate primer will be sprayed inside and out. Lower hull to have three coats of standard black coal tar solution, also in the bilges. Four anodes fitted to hull

Other items
Integral water tank will be put under the foredeck with filler on the gunnel and overflow breather through the side, fully lined.

Cruiser style boats will have self draining steel deck frames and where appropriate tubular steel handrails. TOP >>

Engine specification

Engines used will be Beta Marine 35 HP.

11/2” stern gland, stainless steel shaft, bronze propeller, sized for the boat and Centaflex coupling to the gearbox.
Stainless Steel flexible exhaust and large silencer.
Four 2.5 kg anodes
Installation will be BW/NRA specification as regards diesel lines, exhaust lagging and wiring etc. We include a water trap in diesel feed as standard.

Starter battery and three domestic batteries fitted with master switch for isolation. They are housed in a box with a breather overboard
Single lever control and appropriate cables to engine which has deluxe instrument panel.

Cooling from skin tank with anti freeze in and an expansion bottle is fitted to the engine.

In a trad boat the engine will be boxed over but all panels will be easily removable without tools and full soundproofing installed. TOP >>

12V electrical System

Based on three domestic deep cycle batteries charged from the main engine alternator.
Feed to all circuits is via switched breakers of correct sizes.
Cables are heavy to avoid voltage drop at lights or appliances
Horn, headlamp and foredeck light fitted as standard.
Bilge pumps, one 1400gph under stern gear.
Radio aerial and TV Coax from outside to internal socket. Halogen lights. All switches are gold plated or chrome to stop green corrosion. Wall lights and reading lights standard. TOP >>

240V AC Wiring

Heavy duty input socket feeding via control panel with RCD and MCBs. Voltmeter and phase indicator as required by BMEA Code of Practice for boat installations. Three twin 13 amp sockets at chosen points in the boat and other outlets on request.

Fitting out material Specification

Floor bearers in 3 x 2 pine and internal grounds in 1 x 2 pine.
Bulkheads in 18mm veneered blockboard
External doors in 18mm marine grade plywood.
Internal lower linings in 9mm WBP Plywood.
Upper linings in 9mm veneered plywood.
Deckheads in 6mm veneered plywood.

Hardwoods are customer choice from oak or ash.

Worcester Marine windows are used. Stainless steel self tapping screws and plated self tapping screws are used where needed to attach groundwork to steel.
All wood fixings are with brass screws and capped over.

Kitchen and bathroom surfaces may be chosen from a range including coloured veneers with hardwood trim and duropal work surfaces.

Ballast is blue brick in the bilges.

Insulation is foil backed high density polyurethane foamsheets (Xtratherm) above and below the gunnels .

Cratch plank and cover, or aft covers are not fitted as standard. (extra)

Doors and other furniture, hinges, catches, knobs, handles, bolts etc are in solid brass. Chrome plated option.

Curtain rails in anodized brass.

Toilet specification

Thetford cassette C200 with electric flush. Waste capacity 17 litres. TOP >>

Water system

Integral steel holding tank with stop valve housed under foredeck. Shurflo pump with separate pressure switch and accumulator tank. Water is fed to domestic type appliances via HEP20 tube and fittings. Stainless steel sink and mixer tap. Basin with two taps. Shower with discharge pump. Shower cubicle fitted as standard. The hot water is from a 14 gallon calorifier with overpressure valve with twin coils heated from engine and from the central heating where fitted.

Gas system

Two 13kg propane bottles housed in bow locker. These feed the hob and oven. All appliances fitted with control taps and are installed by Corgi registered Installer to the British Standard or equivalent. TOP >>

Central heating

Webasto 5KW Diesel Heater fitted as standard feeding hot water tank and domestic radiators throughout the boat

These are included in the price of the boat and consist of flooring throughout, a mattress (split mattress extra) and curtains or bungs. Colour choice available.

We offer Epifanes, International or Rapid Paint.
